Good morning!

In this nice and agreeable season, by the beautiful Taihu, we are having the “2006 Wuxi International Cooperation Summit for Asia-Pacific CEOs & Provincial Governors and Mayors”. Please allow me, first on behalf of all the guests and delegates from the 25 countries and districts in Asia-Pacific region, to give my sincere appreciation to the invitation of Asia-Pacific CEO Association, and the Wuxi Municipal Government. And I would also like to express my warm congratulations to the successful opening of this Summit.

The International Cooperation Summit for Asia-Pacific CEOs & Provincial Governors and Mayors, as a platform for the communication and cooperation between the well-known CEOs in big enterprises, advanced financial experts and local executive officers from the Asia-Pacific region, has promoted the interaction and development of international capital and the regional economy. The summit also  established the effective long-time, stable cooperation mechanism between the provincial governors and mayors and CEOs through various kinds of cooperation channels such as economy and trade, investment, technology and management. With concerted efforts of Committee of International Cooperation Summit for Asia-Pacific CEOs & Provincial Governors and Mayors led by Mr. Zheng Xiongwei, Mayor Mao Xiaoping and other outstanding persons, the summit has become a grand event of international economic cooperation with enormous influence in Asia-Pacific region. This summit has appealed a large number of elites. I’m expecting to meet these important persons present in this grand event, and discuss with you on how to promote the international economic cooperation, and how to strengthen and consolidate the interactive connecting system. Let’s join hands and make contribution to the development of the Asia-Pacific region as well as the global economy.

This is a conference in which we increase mutual understanding and friendship. This is a conference in which we conduct win-win cooperation. China can not get economic development without the world and the world can’t make progress without China’s development. I have been always in the past 20 years and will go on in the future engaging in promoting Sino-Australian economic and trade relations and dialogue between China and the world. The world witnessed China’s rapid economic development. The key point of China’s rapid progress lies in her effective utilization of foreign capital and new technology, which make numerous Chinese enterprises taking part in international competition and achieve great success. At the same time, foreign businesses also benefit from China’s economic prosperity. Today we are gathered here to make a discussion on the theme of “Promoting the prosperity of Asia-Pacific region on the basis of innovation” which will contribute to economic prosperity in Asia-Pacific region.

At present, Asia-Pacific economic cooperation is quite complicated in geography and in the process of moving forward. However I firmly believe that we can make use of the endless opportunity presenting before us. The rapid economic development in Asia has benefit people from all over the world. Meanwhile we have to be aware that political and economic development worldwide has stepped into a new stage. How to integrate resource in Asia-Pacific region and continue to give the economy the best play has become the major concern of all countries in Asia-Pacific region. Today we are gathered here with the same value to have a discussion on economic development. I believe this summit will contribute to the sustained sound and rapid economic prosperity and development in member countries.
